Straight out of a Fisher Scone Mix box, with fresh huckleberries thrown in, the scones we had for breakfast were not too shabby.
While relaxing before breakfast, Wilma was watching this guy in a bush just beside the camper. It seemed we were in a stare down for quite a while. He was fairly fat, so maybe had to build up energy to go on. He sat there and watched us for about five minutes, occasionally taking a peck at the bush.
After a leisurely morning and a late breakfast, we went back to Seaside and walked and walked and walked around the classic cars on display. It was a big show, and they had all kinds of different cars. Seemed like they had a lot of 57 Chevy’s which Fred was most interested in, and several 67 Chevelle’s. Wish we could have/would have kept those from our younger years, but who could afford it.
There were cars along a lot of the streets, but Broadway was really loaded, all the way out to the turn around. There must not have been enough wind because almost no kites were flying off the turn around, but we did enjoy seeing the Lewis and Clark statue there.
As we walked around town, a couple people singled Fred out and commented about the Packers having a big game coming up. His first reaction was okay, why are you talking to me about it. Then he remembered he had a Packers cap on. What is funny about it is several trips ago Fred realized he hadn’t brought along a cap, so he found a couple at Walmart for a dollar each. It is strictly a cheap hat, decent color thing, not selected for the team they represent! Sorry Ron!
We spent the afternoon up at the beach overlook, soaking in the beautiful day. There were a lot of people out, and then we found out there was a 5 or 10K walk/run out to the jetty happening at 5:30. It was a hospice benefit, and they got a pretty good crowd. We were not interested after walking so much in downtown Seaside.
It started to get a little windy and cooler, so we headed back to camp. We decided to build a fire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows. There was a small left over chunk of wood in the fire pit, and Barney threw in a few chunks of charcoal while we waited for the wood cart to come around. Barney had signed up for a bundle since no one was at the wood shack when he went down. We waited, and waited, and waited! It was kind of like waiting for the brown truck the other day, but this time we were impatient to get our supper going! We waited for about an hour before they finally came around and then we got a real fire going.
We had a great day, hope you did too.
