Going to the East Side

Wednesday, August 13, 2013
Feeling like we had done what we planned on the West side, we drove around the south end of the park today, and on over to the east end of the Going to the Sun road. DSCN1362

Two medicine lake - No one we know at the table
We stopped at the Two Medicine VC along the way, so we could collect our stamp there.  DSCN1364Glacier 012  After Two Medicine we had to backtrack into Browning because the road continuing on from there was restricted to under 21 feet. Both of our rigs are longer than that. The Ranger told us it was narrow and steep, with sharp drop offs.
Browning was not one of our favorite stops. Betty was quite upset with someone ahead of them in line to fuel up. (on our way out of the park on Friday we did see a better station in town, but oh well!)

We still didn’t have a specific agenda for the next few days, so went on up to St. Mary, and found a camp site at the Rising Sun campground. It is not as nice as the campground on the west side, but will do for a couple of days. There is a larger one that takes reservations, but they were already full.

Small shuttle with Betty's reflection
Since it was still fairly early, we hopped the shuttle and went to the top just so we could see the east side. We turned right around and headed back down since we had already done the top, but the construction delays made it a fairly long trip. Again, interesting people.
DSCN1397  We sat around a small campfire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, then called it a day. We’ll get an early start tomorrow to go to Canada.DSCN1398
