Colorado

10-04-11
We arrived in Fruita, Colorado this morning, and went to find an RV repair shop. The first one couldn’t help us but directed us to one nearby. They will get the part in overnight and hopefully get us fixed up tomorrow.
We stopped at the welcome center in Fruita, and had breakfast in their parking lot, again about noon!
We then checked into the state park that was very convenient. It is nice, has hookups so we can get the fridge working for a while, and has a nice restroom, shower and laundry building, even though the showers are coin operated.
We parked the Flintstone-mobile, and took the Rubble-mobile up the hill to Colorado National Monument.  Another awesome place! We toured the VC, watched the presentations, and got our park passport books stamped, then took the 23 mile ride through the park. We stopped at many of the viewpoints and took lots of pictures. In some places you could see out over the Fruita/Grand Junction valley, and some views were of very sheer-walled canyons, with lots of different rock formations and colors.

After returning to the valley, we stopped at Taco Bell for dinner. It is almost directly across the road from the state park – again the urban influence while we camp!
We have had some rain today, but not while we were up at the monument. It is also quite a bit cooler today. The weather will have a lot of say about where we go next. Some places are expecting 12 inches of snow tonight. We won’t be going there!
