Off Again?

Thursday, October 20, 2011
If all goes as planned, we will be heading out again tomorrow morning, continuing east into Kentucky, then south into Tennessee and who knows where from there.

We have enjoyed our stay with two of the Three Musketeers (the third one is away at college), and Betty’s brother and SIL were here over the weekend, so it was a good time for all.

We actually went to a high school football game one evening because Betty and Barney’s grandson is in the marching band and they were scheduled to play during half time. He was also featured doing a tango with a friend.  He is very tall and has to take baby steps with the band, but stands tall and proud. It was fun to see the band in action, and he did an excellent job with the tango.

Just a few days later we went back to a girls’ volleyball game.  During the break in that game, the school announced the “King of the Court” and Betty and Barney’s grandson was crowned! He was quite pleased, and wore the crown with excitement.  The third musketeer had come home for that event, so we got to see her for just a short time.

We’ve made a few trips into town for groceries, etc., and went out to the fairgrounds to a civil war encampment. This is the “other” year where it is not a full blown re-enactment, but still had a number of tents set up, and folks in period costume. There was also a display of quilts, and we learned more about how the different patterns were used by the underground railroad.

The featured project for this visit was finished up today. Siding for the back of the house had been ordered and was to be delivered Monday. We waited, waited, waited. Finally found out the truck had been directed somewhere else. After some hassles, the truck finally showed up Tuesday afternoon. So early Wednesday morning, work began. By then the good weather had changed first to rain, then to windy and cold.  It was quite chilly while working out there, but the wind was coming at the other side, so we were somewhat protected. We bundled up against the cold and made really good progress with the project, finishing up by noon today. It looks great!

And there it is!
